Business Development Manager & Coach
From representing his state in India at youth level to becoming a trusted figure in UK club cricket, Umar Munawar’s journey through the game has been shaped by dedication, discipline, and a deep love for cricket.
Umar first made his mark in India, where he represented his state at U14, U16, and U19 levels, competing against some of the best young talent in the country. These early experiences laid the foundation for his technical skill and game awareness, while instilling the mindset of a competitor who understands both the highs and challenges of cricket.
After moving to the UK, Umar continued to pursue the game passionately, becoming a regular 1st XI club cricketer over the past four years. His exposure to different playing conditions and team environments has helped shape his adaptable and well-rounded coaching style.
Off the field, Umar has built an impressive coaching résumé. He holds a BSc in Sports Coaching, is an ECB Level 2 qualified coach, and is certified in First Aid and Safeguarding. His approach combines ECB fundamentals with SPCA’s own proven methods, focusing on developing both the technical and mental aspects of a player’s game.
Now serving as both a Coach and Business Development Manager at Sumit Panda Cricket Academy, Umar plays a key role in shaping training programmes while also expanding the academy’s reach across the UK. His strengths lie in batting and bowling technique, fielding drills, tactical awareness, and building player confidence—all delivered with clarity, energy, and patience.
Umar’s journey is a reflection of his commitment to continuous growth — both as a player and as a mentor. At SPCA, he brings this same drive to help young cricketers unlock their full potential.
pleted his qualifications at Myerscough Cricket College and is currently pursuing a degree in Sports & Exercise Science at Manchester University. Balancing both playing and coaching, he continues to be a strong role model and an inspiring figure within the cricket community. His dedication, enthusiasm, and drive make him an integral part of SPCA’s mission to nurture future talent.
